Nonprofits are wonderful and unique in so many ways. First and foremost it is the service provided to help those in need. However, another beautiful aspect of the nonprofit world are Volunteers. And I capitalize that for a reason. It's not just idle words, when I say "we could not do what we do without the aid of our Volunteers!" Between our Village Thrift Shoppe, and our Hot Meal Program, Arivaca HR is blessed to have over 40 regular Volunteers that show up, week after week, to serve our community.
First off is our AHR Board of Directors (pictured below with our staff). Our Board doesn't just sit idly by making decisions in a board room. Last year our amazing BOD collectively put in 2,919 hours in service to our organization. That averages over 240 hours a month. I've been in the nonprofit world for over 15 years, and that number is unheard of. Truly a tribute to the men and women who serve behind the scenes to make sure our operations are running smoothly. THANK YOU to each AHR Board Member for your dedication and leadership.
Now lets talk about our Rockstar Kitchen Volunteers! Some of them have been working in our kitchen for over a decade. They are true AHR heroes. Last year 26 individuals dedicated a morning a week to come in and cook 70 to 80 meals a day for their neighbors. Together they spent a collective 1,696 hours. Our Hot Meal / Home Delivery Program is our flagship service. Last year 16,799 meals were cooked and delivered! Through this program alone, we serve almost 10% of our village population. The time and service given are a God send for so many. On behalf of all whom you serve, I sent out the greatest appreciation to all of our AHR Kitchen Volunteers!
Next of note are all of our amazing Village Thrift Shoppe Volunteers! In October 2023 we launched the wonderful VTS in the warehouse behind our offices. It was a monumental undertaking getting it stocked and up and running, and all done through Volunteer efforts. Now each Wednesday and Saturday community Volunteers show up with their beautiful smiles and willing hearts to accept your donations, stock shelves and racks and send you away with "everything you never knew you always wanted!" The importance of our VTS Volunteers cannot be overstated! 100% of the proceeds from VTS go directly to supporting our nonprofit. These are such important funds that allow us to keep serving our community. Last year over 1,170 hours were given in service to keep our Village Thrift Shoppe up and running, which generated almost $23,000 worth of revenue to our mighty nonprofit. A HUGE CYBER THANK YOU to ALL of our Amazing VTS Volunteers!
Besides those groups mentioned above we also have Volunteers that serve on our Plaza de la Amistad committee and even others who just show up here and there when we need them the most. One of the definitions of an army is, "a body of persons organized to advance a cause." We truly are an Arivaca HR Army, and our cause is GREAT! Thank you to EACH and EVERY Volunteer who gives freely of their precious time to serve. You are a blessing, more than you'll ever know.
